Whats The Latest In Hearing Aid Technology, And What Would Be The Best One To Go For (for An Elderly Man)?

For a lot of hearing care professionals it is unfortunately your pocket book.
The newest technology is Receiver in the Canals (R.I.C.) or open fit hearing aids. these are behind the ear hearing aids that do not OCCLUDE the ear canal and sound very natural and are very small. But they are limited to hearing losses that are mild or moderate.
When selecting a hearing aid look at your lifestyle and needs, your ability to operate one (eyesight and dexterity).
You will also need to determine your costs and affordability.
They professional should be selecting a efficient device to fit your hearing loss, warranty program and after sale costs for service and return policy. All hearing aids can be return within 30 days if not satisfied see if there is a cost to return some charge some not.
The big multi-store vendors really might not be the best since your hearing loss is personal so select a professional that is knowledgeable and cares. There are a number of hearing aids out and the most expensive and least expensive can be the right one for your needs, loss and pocket book.
Have the professional explain why they select one versus the other and make sure they FIT you right, that is the difference between a successful happy hearing aid user and not ,it has nothing to do with the hearing aid.

Is It Possible For Me To Have A Hearing Aid? Any Information Would Help.?

I’m 18 years old, and have been thinking a lot about hearing aids. I am about 95% deaf in my left ear, and 35% in my right ear. I’ve been in normal public school, play music, and talk all right, which is what causes most to think my hearing doesn’t affect me. Really, they’re wrong. I struggle to hear in school, always have to sit on the left side of whatever I’m trying to hear, TVs are damn near impossible to hear sometimes (captions are my best friend), and all in all it’s just annoying. I’m used to it, though. I don’t notice it most of the time. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t affect me negatively.
My twin sister and I were a month premature. She was the fat, healthy one, and I had a shitload of problems (heart murmur, low on iron (grandpa had to donate blood), freakishly fast heartbeat, etc. I was in the hospital for a month, blah.
Anyway, they never did any hearing tests during that time, so we don’t know if it happened then, but the doctor reckons that it probably was. Despite the fact that I naturally learned not to lay on my right ear when I was trying to watch TV and use my right ear for the phone, no one ever connected it until I got one of those shitty raise-your-hand tests in kindergarten.
I took a test in ’98, and retook it in 2005 when I was 14 (I barely saw these results about 2 months ago, my mom never showed me them until then). It’d gotten worse by about 20% in each ear. I never thought about it until recently, but I’m worried it could just get worse.
My mom told me that it is damaged nerve endings that cause my deafness. Apparently, the ONEEE doctor that I saw said that there was nothing I can do. Hearing aids wouldn’t help. Blah. My mom took his word right away and told me that was it. I haven’t been able to get her to take me anywhere else for more opinions, and I know (for sure) that it is simply because she doesn’t want to spend money on it.
I’m 18 now, but still live with her and haven’t a job yet (college). I want to go to the doctor again, but want to hear some public opinion. I know it doesn’t replace a doctor’s words, but I just want to know if there is anyone out there with a similar situation.
Any information would help.

Do You Think A Canal Hearing Aid Would Be Appropriate For A 3.5yo?

He is currently wearing a behind the ear aid, but it seems to annoy his ear, not to mention him.
Do you think a canal aid, would be appropriate for him, or that he will just lose his aid??
Anyone have any ideas

Would You Have A Relationship With A Person Who Had A Hearing Aid Or A Person With A Limp Etc?

If i was in a long term relationship where something like this happened i would stay with that person but take for instance if you meet a person (in a club, through a friend or at work) who is beautiful in every way except they had a hearing aid, a limp or a glass eye etc. i understand this is a shallow question but i think a valid one. Be honest and please avoid mentioning retarded people.
