I have a major hearing loss and I am required to wear hearing aids
I take honors classes

If you believe your mother has an actual hearing loss as opposed to simply ignoring certain things you should suggest getting a hearing test.
There are many places that offer free hearing tests without any obligation. You might even suggest getting your own hearing tested at the same time.
If she has a hearing loss the earlier she tackles the problem the easier it is to fix. I am constantly amazed at how long some of my patients wait before getting their first test. Some of my patients have lost over 75% of their hearing and have never had a hearing test before! A hearing aid works only with the natural hearing that is left, so the sooner one starts to wear one the better. The brain can get awfully lazy at speech discrimination after years of having a hearing loss.
If she Denies the hearing problem she has nothing to lose by having a free no obligation test. Offer to take her yourself. Point out that like other health issues she should be tested just to be on the safe side. If her hearing is normal (or does not need help) then you will have a baseline reading for the future. A hearing test could also identify simple problems like wax in the ear which could be removed to improve the hearing.
If she says she has a hearing problem, but doesn’t want to wear hearing aids explain that technology has really come a long way in the past few years. Modern hearing aids don’t whistle, sound great, and are invisible when worn.

depends on your hearing aids. This option is only available on behind the ear hearing aids that have direct audio input feature. I believe it is not a headphone, but a cord that plugs from hearing aid to the device you are listening to (ie Ipod). Ask your audiologist if your aids have this feature available.
