I am not totally deaf/blind. But I am blind in one eye and my ‘good’ eye only correctable to 20/40 in my left eye. Unfortunately, my left ear is 80% deaf. So I see from my left eye and hear from my right ear. People with hearing difficulty use their vision to help them. People who have low vision often use hearing to help them. I have difficulty doing either. Because of the combination of losses. But since I am not totally either I haven’t been able to find others like myself.

Otosclerosis is a process of conductive hearing loss for which surgery is the only cure. However the progress of loss can be stabilised by using hearing aids.

Starkey is one of the largest hearing aid companies in the world. I’ve been dispensing their products since 1994, and I am more impressed with them than any other brand.
The comment that the ones they give away are unreliable is ridiculous. They have a charity wing that gives away hearing aids to impoverished people around the world. Many of these aids are pre-owned, donated and are not even made by Starkey. They have given away 200,000 hearing aids since 2000. It seems pretty silly to be criticizing them for their charity work.
Check out their new nFusion technology, it is really something.

I am considering purchasing two used aids but know nothing about the Phonak. Is it a good aid and has it been around for awhile?
