do u think hearing aid is best for deaf people ? is it best for profound hearing impaired people ? I am profound deaf(above 80 % loss of both ears).I have the best hearing aid but it does not suit to me. i can hear with hearing aid but can not understand. now i am without hearing aid. i am studying without hearing aid. i have no problem without hearing aid.

I am a 26 year old female and mother of 2. I have had poor hearing since childhood but due to my families income was never checked or treated for it. I managed for the most part by lip reading and saying “what” a lot. Now a few weeks ago I got my hearing tested for the first time and I came up with a moderately severe (56-70 dB) loss. I was fitted and just received my new hearing aids. Now I should be happy about this right? But I’m finding myself depressed. I had no idea how much I had been missing out on. I am hearing all these little sounds I never new I was missing all this time. I have missed out on so much for so long. I just want to cry.
Is that crazy? Why can’t I just be happy? How do I deal with this feeling?

I think it might be an intelligently designed disease because you don’t catch it by eating veggies, only through sexual contact!

There’s this girl I work with that I’ve gotten to know through texting. When I saw her for a very brief moment, I saw that she had a hearing aid. She hasn’t brought it up in texting before, but we also haven’t gotten close to the subject at all. So when I see her in person again and we get to talking, is it alright to ask her about her hearing aid, or might she be sensitive about it?
