Hearing Test And Hearing Aid Question?
Hi
I recently had my hearing tested as I was finding that I wasn’t hearing people very clearly. The test was the standard tones in your ears, at different volumes and you press the button when you hear it, as well the audiologist made me repeat several words she spoke to me.
She told me that my low tone hearing failed and that my right ear was worse than my left ear but both are not in the normal range. Today I was sent for an ABR (to make sure there is no tumor between my ear and my brain – is this right?) and that test was good. Then I was sent to talk to yet another audiologist about hearing aids – cost will be between $3,000 – $5,000 (cdn).
I guess I’m feeling a little blown away by all of this news, it was only 3 days ago I started this process. I’m only 39 years old and have never had issues with my hearing (nor has anyone else in my family – although I know there’s always a first). The fact is I know my hearing isn’t perfect but is hearing loss always permanent? can you tell just from having a hearing test? is there a way to determine why you lose your hearing? I asked these questions of the audiologist and they said my hearing loss is permanent, the hearing test proved it, and there could be any number of reasons why its gone – better just to deal with the loss by buying a hearing aid (I’ll be checking out my health care plan at work to see if any of this will be covered).
Anyone will any hearing loss experience that can enlighten me – I would really, really appreicate it!

Hey luvmynwf,
I am sorry to hear that you have hearing loss. I hope what I say can help you a little. Hearing loss is not always permanent and can be fixed without a hearing (just be sure to research side effects of each surgery). There are also cheaper disposable hearing aids available on the market for much cheaper prices. Based on the cause of hearing loss, it can be permanent or it can be recovered.
Exercising helped me to tone up a load when I incorporated it along with taking colon cleanse. I appreciate they say that pills do not work, nevertheless they certainly worked for me, and they have been featured on CBS News too. There’s a free trial happening at the moment at http://wosang.optimalfitness.info , why not try it, what’s the worst that could happen?
